SHAPE Up on North Beach with Chicago Athletic Club

Have you have seen the cover of a women’s health or fitness magazine, looked at the bikini-clad bombshell splayed on the front and thought, “Damn, I wish I had her body?” Yeah, I’ve never done that either.

This weekend, SHAPE, the number one women’s active lifestyle magazine, is hosting its fourth annual Summer Beach Tour and will stop at Chicago’s North Avenue Beach.  From 8am to 3pm you can get your groove on with heart-pumping fitness classes from your favorite Chicago Athletic Club instructors, summer fashion shows, interactive beauty exhibits and product-packed gift bags.

Whether you’re looking trying to slim down for the summer or simply can’t stay away from the beach on a summer Saturday, sweat it out with Turbo Kick, Latin Dance Fusion, Viinyasa Yoga or with celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins’ at her signature Bikini Bootcamp and Happy Hour, a high-energy cardio jolt that will develop endurance and increase your energy level.

After the workout, I”ll probably be wherever the mojitos are, but there is also the option to head over to the SHAPE runway for an exclusive fashion show hosted by SHAPE editors, a dance contest and more fun activities.  If you still have energy left, hit up Castaways (1603 N. Lakeshore Drive) for an after-party from from 3-5pm.

Summer Workout Challenge with Mandee Miller 10:30am – 11:15am

An endurance extravaganza! Sometimes a sport-specific circuit, sometimes a cardiovascular marathon — always a challenge. Work on your strength, balance, and agility utilizing the latest in exercise equipment and techniques.

Turbo Kick™ with Dana Anderson 12pm – 12:30pm
Turbo Kick combines the power of kickboxing with hip-hop moves. The choreographed routines taught are fun, easy to follow and will burn calories for sure.

50/50 with Sarah Ruhl 1:15pm- 1:45pm
Although only 30 minutes long, this class combines cardio exercises with a muscle definition workout. 50% of the class is a blast of heart pumping cardio with little to no choreography, the other 50% uses weights and plyometrics to build muscle.

Happy Hour with Team CAC 1:45pm – 2:30pm
