I had walked by P.O.S.H. on State Street a dozen times before I finally went it. The trinkets in the window display always caught my eye. From china to vintage pillows to candles, P.O.S.H. is an eclectic store that offers one-of-a-kind or limited edition home décor. The small shop feels more like an upscale flea market and sells both high and low-priced items found in antique markets and auction houses.
The first time I visited P.O.S.H., I was instantly drawn to a set of large, white dinner plates with a gold emblem. After chatting with one of the associates, I learned that the plates had been used at The Drake Hotel, one of my favorite places in Chicago. The Drake is special to me for many reasons and I was so excited to be able to own a piece of their history.
P.O.S.H. has become my go-to place for small gifts for friends. I’ve bought their Chicago skyline coffee mugs for both birthday presents and house warming gifts. Looking for the perfect gift for your hard-to-please mother-in-law? You’re sure to find something at P.O.S.H.
A word to the wise: if you see something you like, snatch it up quickly – most items are small in quantity and it may not be there when you go back.
