Style Forecast from Shopping Girl XOXO: Fall Fashion Trends for Women

BY LORA LAPRATT

Fall is the perfect season for a wardrobe revamp.  No matter how many great items my personal styling clients already have in their closets, most of them love to add something special into their wardrobe around this time of year. Not only does something new add a boost of confidence and excitement, it helps to get them through the fact that summer is winding down.

When I visit a home for a wardrobe revamp, I always bring a custom picked “shop” from my favorite Chicago boutiques hand picked just for their style and taste.  Of course the fall trends influence my picks in order to keep my clients looking hot and on-trend.  This year, my favorite trends to incorporate into existing wardrobes are:

Sheerly Insane: I’m completely in love with the sheer trend this season. The look can go from office appropriate to perfect for a night out on the town.  I love to tuck it into a pair of great tailored straight leg pants and add a blazer when going to the office, then un-tuck, switch out the blazer for a statement necklace and own the city after work!  A great, classic, well rounded addition to any wardrobe, no matter what your age or style preference.

Let it Shine: The excitement of adding a hint of sparkle to a retro inspired stye makes me smile.  There are so many ways to wear jeweled collar, with  Diamonds, pearls, colorful gems or neutral gems, they all add a perfect touch of style to any outfit.  You’ll find jeweled collars on dresses, tanks, and tops all over the city, but my favorite way to incorporate this fun fashion into your wardrobe is though accessories.  You can get a jeweled “collar” necklace so that it is interchangeable with all of your favorite tops and dresses.

Add a Pop: Blush and Burgundy are perfect color choices for anyone who wants to add a pop of color to an otherwise drab palate. If you’re trying to choose a dress for a special occasion and you want a fashion-forward color that won’t reflect neon, opt for one of these subtle hues.  A variation on the little red dress will make you feel girly and sexy all at the same time.

It’s Geometric: Geometric prints make a huge statement, so you can be sure we’ll be spotting them during Fashion Week this year. What a fabulous skirt, you’ll have plenty of options for mixing and matching or you can opt to add jewelry, shoes or even a great purse for added texture.  It’s easy to take from day to night and a great way to show your personality through your clothes.

By incorporating a touch of these trends into your wardrobe in the coming months you will be sure to feel confident and beautiful knowing you’re right on trend.  Be inspired and interpret your own Style In The City.
