Bunches, the unintimidating florist on Lincoln Avenue, is one of the most intimate flower shops in the city. This boutique is so cozy that it’s hard to imagine its staff rolling out entire event arrangements, but that works to its advantage: their smaller feel with exceedingly friendly service is just what a (non-professional) flower-buyer needs.
That service is what keeps customers coming back, as it was named Chicago Magazine’s pick for best Lincoln Park florist this year. Staff members are outgoing and considerate, so a customer never needs to feel guilty for not knowing their orchids from their parrot tulips. No matter whose manning the herb helm, Bunches florists are always careful to explain the different varieties, while suggesting the best way to combine the flowers for at-home display. In fact, their a la carte services, a weak point for many event-focused florists, are exceptional.
With affable assistance, choose from the antique hydrangeas or any seasonal buds to fill your home’s vases at your disposal. The selection is continuously impressive: you’re hard pressed to see the same flowers twice, a rarity that is also likely credited to Bunches’ uncompromising standards. We’ve been witness to florists (heatedly) returning blooms not up to their peers’ calibers, and, after the detailed inspection at check out, even have been known to sharply discount (or indeed provide entirely with their compliments) picks that aren’t up to snuff.
Though it feels like a small shop, this florist doesn’t solely serve up individual bouquets. In addition to their a la carte services, Bunches landscapes and, for weddings and other occasions, provides large-scale arrangements. However, no matter what service you visit for, it remains true that Bunches’ biggest commodity is its warm setting.
